NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Amanda Meyer hit .579 with 12 kills, while Kyra Thompson added 11 kills, 10 digs and three service aces to help Rutgers beat NSU 3-0 (30-21, 30-15, 30-19) on Friday night at College Avenue Gym before an announced crowd of 300.
The Scarlet Knights (2-7) hit .386 as a team and had five players with five or more kills.
NSU (1-11) was led by freshman middle hitter Heather Quinn (Conyers, Ga.) who hit .386 with seven kills, no errors, and two blocks (one solo). Sophomore setter Solange Honore (San Fernando, Trinidad) had 19 assists and led the team with 10 digs.
All seven Spartan players had at least one kill.
NSU returns to Echols Hall for a contest against the Tribe of William & Mary on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
