NORFOLK, Va. - The NSU men's basketball team opens its 2008-09 season on Sunday night when it travels to Longwood University in Farmville, Va. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. in Willett Hall.

The Spartans return two starters and eight letterwinners from last year's team that went 16-15 for the program's first winning record in nine years. The Spartans are 1-0 in season-openers under head coach Anthony Evans. NSU upset Richmond 72-69 win Evans' Spartan coaching debut last season.

Longwood returns two starters from last year's 9-22 team. The Lancers (1-0) got off to a solid start with an 87-44 victory over Virginia-Wise on Friday night.
