NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University first-year sophomore Brandon Monroe (Raeford, N.C.) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Monroe, a 6-7 forward, averaged 10 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game to help NSU to victories over Florida A&M and Delaware State last week. He scored a career-high 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting while pulling down seven rebounds vs. FAMU. He also had three steals in that game. Monroe then had six points and eight boards in the win over DSU. He was 10-of-13 (77 percent) from the floor in the two games en route to his second Rookie of the Week nod.
