Woods Finishes 10th in High Jump at NCAA Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Norfolk State sophomore Marlon Woods (Norfolk, Va.) finished tied for 10th in the high jump on Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Arkansas, finishing two spots out of All-American honors.

Woods, the two-time reigning MEAC indoor high jump champion, cleared 6 feet, 10.25 inches on Saturday, tying with Joel Hargett of Texas for 10th. Dusty Jonas of Nebraska won the event going away, clearing 7-7.

Woods was the first Spartan to compete at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship since high jumper Adrian Shears in 2001. Shears is also the last male Division I indoor All-American at NSU, after placing seventh that year.

Woods and the rest of the Spartans begin outdoor season next week when they travel to Wake Forest.
