DURHAM, N.C. --- The Norfolk State men's track and field team turned in several strong performances at the Duke Invitational on Saturday.
 
Kendrick Winfield led the Spartans with a third-place finish in the 200 meters, clocking a time of 21.19. The 4x100 meter relay team followed with a runner-up finish in 40.34, while the 4x400 meter relay team placed third with a time of 3:09.29.
 
Christopher Basking paced Norfolk State in the 100 meters, finishing sixth in 10.58, followed by Jaycob Linsey in 24th (10.66). Antoinne Smith took eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.40.
 
In the 400 meters, Lavontay Bond led the Spartans with a 21st-place finish (47.83), while Donovan Terry (49.03) and Vincent Bond Jr. (49.28) followed. Nimporembere Drogba competed in the 800 meters in 1:54.69, while Jemmel Green ran in the 1,500 meters, clocking a time of 3:55.77.
 
Lewis Too led the Spartans in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an 11th-place time of 9:13.11, while Basil Koech placed 23rd (9:47.69). Daniel Mathenge (14:33.97) and Ian Kimutai (14:38.18) finished 38th and 42nd, respectively, in the 5,000 meters.
 
In the field events, Landon Walker posted a fourth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 4.66 meters, while Christian White took 10th (4.21m). Kristopher Stephens earned sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.98 meters.
 
Chazden Wilson (1.96m) and Xavier McGreal (1.91m) competed in the high jump, placing 21st and 24th, respectively. Atrell Williams led the Spartans in the shot put with a 15th-place mark of 15.41 meters, followed by Jayshaun Campbell in 27th (14.28m). Sean Bell rounded out the field performances with a 21st-place throw of 48.97 meters in the javelin.
 
Norfolk State will return to action next week at a pair of meets. The Spartans will compete at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., and the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va., with both meets set to begin on Friday, Apr. 17.
