NSU Shuts out VSU in Men's Tennis, 7-0

Match Results

NORFOLK, Va. – Miroslav Vlcek (Vyskov, Czech Republic) won his eighth straight singles match and all six Spartans won in straight sets to defeat Virginia State 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon in NSU's home finale at the NSU Tennis Complex.

Vlcek defeated John Lanier 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, and Vassil Zahariev (Sofia, Bulgaria) also won his match without dropping a game at No. 4 singles. Keenan Ruff (Norfolk, Va.) capped the dual match with a hard-fought, 6-4, 6-4 win over Travis Jones at No. 6.

The Spartans improved to 3-7 with the win. They are off until the MEAC Championship, April 18-20 in Raleigh, N.C.
