NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University free safety Terrell Whitehead (Virginia Beach, Va.) was named to The Sports Network's Football Championship Subdivision (FCS, formerly I-AA) All-America third team, the organization announced Tuesday.
It is the second consecutive year that the junior defensive back has been named to TSN's third team. Whitehead is NSU's first player to earn FCS All-America honors in consecutive years since former linebacker Kevin Talley did it in 2003-04.
Whitehead, who was also a first-team All-MEAC selection, led NSU and ranked seventh in the MEAC with 83 tackles. He had the second-most passes defended (15) of any MEAC player, tallying four interceptions and 11 pass deflections. His four picks give him 13 for his career and tied for third in the MEAC.
Whitehead was one of eight MEAC players to be named to either the first, second or third teams. He was also a first-team All-MEAC and 2008 BoxToRow.com/BASN HBCU All-America selection.
