SUMTER, S.C. – The Norfolk State women's bowling team concluded its MEAC regular-season competition with a 4-4 mark last weekend at the southern division meet hosted by South Carolina State.
The Spartans (33-18, 14-10 MEAC) posted wins over South Carolina State and North Carolina A&T in both team and baker action, while dropping decisions to Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman on both days.
Freshman Jessica Overton (Mechanicsville, Va.) posted the highest average for an NSU bowler in Saturday's team games, notching a 175.2 in her five games (876 total pins). She rolled a 205 in the loss to BCU, her second-best single game of the year. Fellow rookie Lauren Graupmann (Chesapeake, Va.) was next with an 855 (171.0 average) followed by Cathryn Myrick (Virginia Beach, Va.) with 852 pins (170.4).
The Spartans clinched their second straight winning conference record, matching last year's 14-10 mark. NSU is currently in second place in the MEAC South behind FAMU.
NSU is off for the remainder of the semester before returning to action Jan. 15-17 at St. Francis' tournament in New York.
