BALTIMORE, Md. – The NSU women's bowling team won three games over the weekend at the Morgan State Invitational, helping the team surpass its 2008 win total.
The Spartans (43-33 overall) struggled as a whole in the team games, going 1-4. The one win came over Elmhurst, 921-801. Three Spartans bowled at least 189 in that one, including a 202 game by Cathryn Myrick (Virginia Beach, Va.).
Sheila-Marie Smith (Virginia Beach, Va.) knocked down a team-best 899 pins in the five games, including a 216 game in the loss to Central Missouri. She averaged a 179.8. Antoinette Drakeford (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) averaged a 177 in her two games, and Myrick averaged a 173.2 (866 pins in five games). Heather Grant (Virginia Beach, Va.) also had a 200 game, knocking down 201 against UCM.
The Spartans went 2-3 in Sunday's baker games, with wins over Fayetteville State and Lincoln.
NSU is off until March 6-8 at the ECAC Championships in North Brunswick, N.J.
