Game Notes

NORFOLK, Va. - The women's basketball team hosts Hampton at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the Annual Battle of the Bay and will take on Howard at 6 p.m. on Monday.

The Spartans are coming off a 78-57 non-conference to loss to Winston-Salem State on Monday at Echols Hall. Freshman guard Marquilla Evans led the Spartans (1-23, 1-12) with 19 points, while senior center Sasha Wilson grabbed a career-high eight rebounds and matched her career-best with six points. On the season, the team is averaging 55.6 points and 35.0 rebounds per game. The Spartans are shooting 33.0 percent (489-of-1484) from the field, including 27.6 percent (91-of-330) from 3-point range and have connected on 266 of their 418 (63.6 percent) free-throw attempts.

Series History vs. Hampton: Hampton leads the all-time series with Norfolk State 40-35. The Lady Pirates won the first meeting this season with an 87-57 victory at the HU Convocation Center. Hampton swept NSU last season, winning 68-51 on Feb. 2 at Echols Hall and 82-61 on March 1 at the Convocation Center. The Spartans' last win over Hampton was a 70-66 win on Dec. 2, 2006 at Echols Hall.

Series History vs. Howard: Howard leads the all-time series with NSU 21-9. The Lady Bison downed the Spartans 71-45 earlier this season at the Burr. The teams split last season's meetings with each team winning at home. The Spartans earned their only MEAC win of the season with a 94-88 overtime defeat of the Lady Bison on Feb. 4 at Echols Hall. Howard returned the favor with a 93-84 victory on March 3 at the Burr.
