TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida A&M softball team posted a 2-1 win over NSU on Sunday afternoon at the Lady Rattler Softball Complex to complete the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference three-game series sweep of the Spartans.

In the low-scoring affair, FAMU (15-24, 3-0 MEAC) only needed two runs to outdo NSU (12-20, 1-5 MEAC).

Brianna Weaver had an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth and Ashley Jones scored on Meghan Moore's sacrifice hit in the sixth to give the Lady Rattlers their two runs.

NSU's only run came in the top of the seventh with two outs when Rebecca Barnes (Hampton, Va.) singled to right field to score Jeanette Sauceda (Ontario, Calif.) from second base. Meghan Ramsey (Virginia Beach, Va.) fouled out to the catcher for the third out and to seal the win for the Lady Rattlers.

Amanda Reyes earned her second win of the weekend after a seven-inning, five-hit outing where she gave up one earned run and struck out five. Alyssa Velazquez (Aurora, Colo.) fell to 10-10 on the season after she allowed seven hits and two earned runs in her 14th complete game of the season. She struck out three and walked one.

NSU returns home for a three-game MEAC series with South Carolina State. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. and the single-game on Sunday starts at noon.
