NSU Volleyball Drop 2 Matches at Hornet Invitational

DOVER, Del.
— The Norfolk State volleyball team dropped its final two matches of the Delaware State Hornet Invitational on Saturday, falling 3-0 (25-12, 26-24, 25-19) to Navy and 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-14) to Maryland Eastern Shore.

In the match against Navy, freshman Charlotte Armstead (Williamsburg, Va.) tallied a career-high 10 kills. Navy dominated the first and third sets, but NSU (2-9) made things interesting in the second set before losing 26-24.

Whitney Johnson and Zoe Bowens had 12 and 11 kills, respectively, to help lead Maryland Eastern Shore over NSU. In that match, sophomore Nicole Kessner (Blacksburg, Va.) led the Spartans with 17 assists and seven kills.

The Spartans play in the Elon University tournament next weekend. They take on host Elon at 7 p.m. on Friday and play Navy (10:30 a.m.) and Georgia State (4:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
