Elon Defeats NSU 3-0 at Phoenix Classic

ELON, N.C. — Jessica Barrow had a match-high 8 kills and hit .353 to lead the Elon University volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-18) win over Norfolk State on Friday night in the Elon Phoenix Classic.

In the first set, NSU (2-10) kept it close from the start, forcing five ties early on. But Elon (11-0) jumped out to an11-6 lead behind the serving of Traci Stewart. The Phoenix held off the Spartans for the rest of the set and eventually took the match.

For NSU, Elayne Greer (Bakersfield, Calif.) led the way with seven kills, while Nicole Kessner (Blacksburg, Va.) had a team-high 17 assists.

The Spartans play Navy at 10:30 a.m. and Georgia State at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
