Spartan Men Face Jacksonville State in Home Opener

Game Notes

NORFOLK, Va.
- Norfolk State (0-1) plays its first home game of the 2010-11 season on Tuesday when the Spartans entertain Jacksonville State (1-0) at Echols Hall. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.

The Spartans lost their season opener on Friday, 87-64, at Long Island University. The Spartans shot just 35 percent compared to LIU's 54 percent, and were outscored 22-4 from the foul line. Four Spartans scored in double figures, led by Rob Hampton, who had 14 points. Pendarvis Williams added 13, Kyle O'Quinn 12, and Aleek Pauline 10.

The Gamecocks opened their season with a 79-58 win over Division II West Alabama on Saturday night in Jacksonville, Ala. Jeremy Bynum had 18 points and Nick Murphy 17 for JSU, which outrebounded UWA 48-24.

SERIES NOTES
JSU leads the series with NSU, 2-1. This marks the fourth straight season that the teams have played each other. NSU won the team's fi rst-ever meeting, 76-72, on Dec. 29, 2007 in Alabama. The Gamecocks have won the last two, 80-61 in Norfolk on Dec. 2, 2008, and 95-78 at JSU on Dec. 15, 2009.
