Whitney Long and the Spartans play at Hampton and Howard this weekend.

Game Notes

NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State women's basketball team plays at Hampton and Howard this weekend. The Spartans take on the Lady Pirates at the Convocation Center at 4 p.m. on Saturday and play the Lady Bison at 6 p.m. at The Burr.

NSU dropped its fifth consecutive game on Monday night with a 57-44 loss to Delaware State at Echols Hall. Raychele Payne (Newport News, Va.) had a game-high 15 points and was 6-of-8 from the field, including 1-of-1 from 3-point range, with six rebounds and two assists. Genor Dalton (Martinsville, Va.) grabbed a career-high nine rebounds.

On the season, Whitney Long (Raleigh, N.C.) leads the team in scoring with 10.6 points per game. Batavia Owens (Norfolk, Va.) is the leading rebounder with 5.6 grabs per game. As a team, the Spartans are shooting 36.4 percent from the field, 26.2 percent from 3-point range and 66.0 percent from the free-throw line.
