Box Score

BUIES CREK, N.C.
– Ellis Lowe went 4-for-5 with three runs batted in to lead host Campbell over Norfolk State 9-3 on Tuesday night at Taylor Field.

Sammy Serafine (Chesapeake, Va.) and Chris Joyce (Chesapeake, Va.) hit solo homers for the Spartans (7-9-1), who have lost four in a row.

Lowe hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first and an RBI double in a three-run second inning for the Camels (17-9) off NSU starter Ryan Davis (Gilbert, Ariz.). That staked CU to an early 4-0 lead from which NSU could not recover.

The Spartans got on the board in the top of the third on Serafine's first career home run. NSU then cut its deficit to 4-2 on an RBI double by TiQuan Griffin (Florence, S.C.) in the top of the fifth.

But the Camels stretched their advantage to 6-2 on Zach Johnson's two-run single in the fifth. The Spartans got as close at 6-3 on Joyce's third homer of the season in top of the sixth, but Campbell scored twice more in the seventh and once in the eighth to finish things off.

Johnson and Cameron Nelson added two hits each for Campbell, which out-hit NSU 13-6. Six different Spartans had one hit apiece.

Jeff Rydman (2-0) earned the pitching win for Campbell with 3.1 innings of work. He allowed two hits and one run. Davis (1-3) took the loss after giving up three hits and four runs in two innings.

The Spartans return home for a three-game MEAC series with Coppin State this Friday and Saturday. The teams play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Friday, and a single game at noon on Saturday.
