NORFOLK, Va.
- Despite a fifth straight singles win by Arsenio Culver (Philadelphia, Pa.), the Norfolk State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to the University of Delaware in the Spartans' home finale on Thursday afternoon at the NSU Tennis Complex.

The Spartans fall to 3-13 with the loss.

UD (6-8) won by default at No. 3 doubles, then took close 8-6, 8-6 wins at first and second doubles to clinch the doubles point.

Culver won in straight sets over UD's Austin Longacre, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Culver broke Longacre's serve midway through the first set, then held on to serve out the set. Culver again broke Longacre early in the second set en route to an early 4-1 lead, and easily held on for his fifth straight singles win. Culver is now 13-3 on the year in singles action.

Despite some good play in the second set, sophomore Ben Marks (Worcestershire, England) dropped a 6-2, 7-5 decision at No. 2 singles to the Blue Hens' Gokay Celic. The Blue Hens combined to drop just three games at the third, fourth and fifth positions, and won by default at No. 6.

The Spartans close out the regular season with a 5 p.m. match at William & Mary on Saturday in WIlliamsburg.
