NSU Alum Debbie Dunn Wins US Title in 400 Meters

DES MOINES, Iowa – Former Norfolk State University All-American Debbie Dunn continued her brilliant 2010 professional track season last Saturday by winning the women's 400 meters at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Drake University.

Dunn won her first national outdoor championship in a personal-best time of 49.64 seconds, the fastest in the world this season. She won by nearly a full second over runner-up Francena McCorory of Hampton University. (50.52).

Dunn's title last weekend added to an already-memorable season for the 2000 NSU graduate. She won the national and world indoor 400-meter titles earlier this year.

“I'm very motivated now, definitely,” Dunn told USA Track & Field. “Even more coming off the world indoor title, the U.S. indoor championship, now an outdoor championship…it motivates me for next year, the world championship and the 2012 Olympics.”

Dunn was the school's first-ever Division I female track & field All-American. In 2000, she was the NCAA indoor runner-up in the 200 meters and was sixth at the NCAA outdoor meet in the 400 meters.
