PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The NSU men's track team got a number of standout performances from its field athletes as the 2011-12 indoor season resumed Saturday with the Coach O Invitational at UMES' W.P. Hytche Athletic Center.
Sophomore
Ian Copeland set a school record in the weight throw. Copeland finished second overall with his best throw of 51 feet, 11 inches. That broke
Jamal Craig's previous standard of 48-4.5, set at last year's MEAC Indoor Championship.
High jumpers
John James and
Robert Thrasher tied for second place, with both clearing 6 feet, 8.25 inches. That marks a new personal best for Thrasher.
In addition,
Theo Duncan placed second in the shot put with a best throw of 48-10.75.
In running events, junior
Kameron George won the mile in a time of 4:31.33. That was just .01 ahead of runner-up Andre Thomas of Coppin State.
The Spartans are back in action next weekend at the Dick Taylor Invitational hosted by the University of North Carolina.
