NORFOLK, Va.
– Norfolk State University will be the host for this week's 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament, which runs Wednesday through Sunday at Marty L. Miller Field.

Tickets for the double-elimination tournament are $5 per day for adults and $2 for youth. A tournament pass covering all five days costs $20 for adults and $8 for youth. Children 7 and under will be admitted free.

The top four seeds from both the MEAC Northern and Southern divisions qualify for the tournament. Only Florida A&M, the fifth-place team from the MEAC Southern Division, did not advance.

Tournament action gets underway Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. as host and North No. 2 seed Norfolk State (21-26, 15-9 MEAC) faces South No. 3 seed North Carolina A&T (18-34, 12-12). South No. 1 Bethune-Cookman (30-24, 18-5), the six-time defending champion, plays North No. 4 Coppin State (1-51, 0-24) at 12:30 p.m. North No. 1 Delaware State (35-15-1, 22-2) faces South No. 4 Savannah State (19-31, 11-13) at 4 p.m. The day's final game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start and pits South No. 2 seed North Carolina Central (18-30, 13-10) against North No. 3 Maryland Eastern Shore (12-37, 11-13).

There will also be four games Thursday at the same times as Wednesday (9 a.m., 12:30, 4 and 7:30 p.m.) pitting the winners and losers from first-day games. Friday's slate includes games at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday's winner's bracket and elimination bracket finals are set for 1 and 6 p.m., respectively. Sunday's championship round commences at 1 p.m.

Bethune-Cookman has won 12 of the past 13 MEAC titles. NSU has advanced to the MEAC Tournament championship round on five occasions (1998, 2001, '05, '08, '11) but is still seeking its first conference title since joining the league in 1998.
