ODU Takes Down Spartans, 5-2

NORFOLK, Va.
– Freshman Dzmitry Zyhmantovich defeated Albert Ochagavia at the No. 2 singles spot and freshman Robin Riethmueller defeated Jonas Kuwert at the No. 3 singles spot, but it was not enough as the Spartans suffered a 5-2 loss at Old Dominion on Sunday the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.

The Monarchs improved to 1-1 while NSU dropped to 0-1 on the season.

Zyhmantovich defeated Ochagavia, 6-3, 7-5. Riethmueller defeated Kuwert, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. ODU's Carlos Lopez Villa defeated sophomore Igor Braga in the No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Junior Peter Rastromer-Pello lost Dante Terenzio, 6-0, 6-2. Sophomore Daniel Grauel finished off the singles matches with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 loss to Zvonimir Podvinski.

NSU went 0-3 in the doubles matches. Zyhmantovich and Rastromer-Pello suffered an 8-4 loss to Lopez-Villa and Can Cetinel. Braga and Riethmueller fell to Kuwert and Ochagavia, 8-7 at the No. 2 spot. Grauel and freshman Samuel Lemberger lost to Tim Schweig and Wesley Barrett, 8-2.

The Spartans will travel to Greenville, N.C., to take on East Carolina on Jan. 25 and Longwood on Jan. 26. The matches will be played at the ECU Tennis Complex and are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
