NORFOLK, Va. – Fans can get a sneak peak of their 2013-14 Norfolk State men's and women's basketball teams as they will host Spartan Madness on Oct. 19 at 8 p.m. at Joseph Echols Hall.

It will be a jam-packed Saturday on the NSU campus as the Spartan football team will host Hampton in the Battle of the Bay at Dick Price Stadium at 1 p.m. Following the conclusion of the football game, doors will open at 7 p.m. at Echols Hall for the annual Spartan Madness. The cost is $5 to get in.

The two basketball teams will be introduced at the beginning of the event, and various members of both squads will also take part in a 3-point shooting contest.

Several of the men's players will also compete in a dunk contest, and the men's team will host an intrasquad scrimmage afterwards. The scrimmage will consist of two halves for a yet-to-be-determined amount of game time.

Tickets for Spartan Madness can be purchased online at www.nsuspartanstickets.com, in person at the NSU Ticket Center or by calling the ticket office at 757-823-9009.

One lucky fan will also have the opportunity to take part in a shoot for cash contest with a grand prize of $50,000 by making a layup, free throw, 3-pointer and half-court shot in 30 seconds.

The entire Spartan Madness event is expected to last an hour and a half.

Rapper and NSU alum Young Money Yawn will give a performance after the intrasquad scrimmage as well.
