American Easily Handles NSU, 3-0

Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – American hit .488 and improved its overall record to 25-2 on the way to a 3-0 win over the Norfolk State volleyball team on Tuesday night at Bender Arena.

NSU's last non-conference match of the season saw the Eagles win 25-12, 25-14 and 25-14. Norfolk State fell to 9-17 overall this year.

American committed just four attack errors and had the highest hitting percentage by an NSU opponent this year. Kristyna Lindovska had 11 kills to lead the Eagles.

Senior Goda Jankauskaite had seven kills to lead Norfolk State, while sophomore Jessica Johnson and senior Coralie Jarema each added six.

American used an 8-0 run at the end of the first set to turn a five-point advantage at 16-11 into a double-digit lead.

A couple of kills from Jankauskaite kept NSU within two at 6-4 in the second set, but the Eagles traded two points for every one by the Spartans to slowly pull away. In the third set, American went on several 3-0 runs and did not commit a single hitting error.

The Eagles had a 9-1 edge in blocks.

NSU will head up to UMES on Thursday to take on the Hawks in the next-to-last match of the regular season.
