PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Freshmen Michael Smith and sophomore
Ryan Turner both placed in the top five in the 60 meter hurdles to highlight a small contingent of Spartan men who competed at the team's season-opening meet, the UMES Coach O Collegiate Invitational, on Friday.
Smith won his preliminary heat and then finished third overall with a time of 8.39 seconds. Turner was second in his heat, then fifth in the finals with a time of 8.57 seconds.
Sophomore
Kyle Green also had a strong meet. He won his heat of the 200 meters in 23.25 seconds, good for fifth place. Green also ran a time of 7.09 seconds in the 60 meters, placing seventh overall.
NSU is off for exams and the holiday break before turning to action at the Penn State Relays on Jan. 11.
