NTCA January 2013 Coaches Poll
NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State bowling team remained in 14th place in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) coaches top-20 poll released this weekend.
The Spartans held down the same spot they had in the December poll, garnering 223 points to finish comfortably ahead of No. 15 Valparaiso by 85 points. NSU also trails No. 13 Stephen F. Austin by 29 points in the poll.
NSU owns a 40-26 overall record this year, including a 13-3 MEAC mark. The Spartans currently sit first in the Southern Division with one more divisional meet still to come in early March.
The No. 12-19 teams in the poll all remained the same.
Along with the Spartans, fellow MEAC schools No. 2 UMES, No. 19 Bethune-Cookman and No. 20 Delaware State also earned a spot in the poll.
Central Missouri remained at the top of the poll with 17 first-place votes, followed by UMES, No. 3 Nebraska, No. 4 Arkansas State and No. 5 Vanderbilt.
NSU will head up to Morgan State to take part in the James Brown Invitational Friday through Sunday.
