Men's Results

BALTIMORE, Md.
James Taylor won the 100 meter dash and anchored the third-place 4x100 meter relay team for the Spartan men on Saturday at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.

In his first time running the 100 meters since high school some four years ago, Taylor won the 100 meters in a time of 10.47 seconds. He posted a 10.44 in the prelims.

One NSU school record fell during the competition, as junior Ian Copeland (150 feet, 10 inches) established a new standard in the discus. He placed fourth, topping Kendrick Richardson's old mark by nearly three feet.

The Spartans also put together their top 4x100 meter relay team for the first time this spring. The quartet of Taylor, Keith Nkrumah, Kenneth Smith and Damian Smith finished third overall and second among collegiate teams in a time of 41.26 seconds.

In other field events, junior Robert Thrasher came in fourth in the high jump with a top height of 6 feet, 4 inches. Freshman Willard Ward came in ninth in the pole vault with a top height of 13-2.25.

In distance faces, freshman Sammy Kiptoo placed seventh in the 1,500m in 4:07.11, and classmate Marquis Worsley was third in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:36.01).

NSU is back in action this weekend at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
