PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Norfolk State junior Nathnael Meseret set a new personal-best in the 5,000 meters on Thursday night at the Penn Relays.
Meseret, running in the college section of the 5,000, placed 19th overall in 14 minutes, 46.81 seconds. That topped his previous PR, set last year at the Raleigh Relays, by six seconds.
Classmate Damtew Adnew was 30th in the same event with a time of 15:29.03.
The Spartans have a busy Friday slate ahead of them at the Penn Relays. Those scheduled to compete include Jamarian Bates in the college long jump, Robert Thrasher in the college high jump, Keith Nkrumah and Kenneth Smith in the 400m hurdles and Nkrumah in the 110 hurdles. NSU is also slated to participate in the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 and sprint medley relays.
