Richmond Tops NSU, 5-2

NORFOLK, Va. –The Norfolk State men's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to Richmond on Sunday afternoon at the NSU Tennis Complex.

The Spartans fell to 11-8 overall while Richmond improved to 9-8 on the season.

NSU clinched the doubles point. In match one, Peter Ramstromer-Pello and Dzmitry Zyhmantovich defeated Ethan Dunbar and Sebastien Fauchet, 8-2. Igor Braga and Robin Riethmueller claimed an 8-4 victory over Paul Nahon III and Jesse Feder in match two. Daniel Grauel and Samuel Lemberger were leading Dylan Trent and Justin Baker, 6-2, before the match was abandoned.

Grauel (9-7) posted the Spartans' only win in singles play with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Baker in match No. 6. In match No. 1, Feder beat Zyhmantovich, 7-6(5), 7-5. Riethmueller competed in match No. 2, where he fell to Dunbar, 6-4, 6-2. Nahon upended Braga, 6-4, 6-2, in match No. 3. Fauchet defeated Ramstromer-Pello, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. In match No. 5, Trent posted a 6-4, 7-5 win over Lemberger.

NSU will host Randolph-Macon on April 13 at the NSU Tennis Complex. Play begins at 3 p.m.
