NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State baseball team (17-26) concludes its regular-season slate with a two-game, home-and-home series with cross-town foe Old Domion (26-22). The teams play at 6 p.m. Friday at ODU's Bud Metheny Baseball Complex, then square Saturday at 1 p.m. at
Marty L. Miller Field on the NSU campus. The game Saturday has been moved up four hours from its original start time of 5 p.m. due to the threat of inclement weather later in the day.
NSU will recognize seniors
Ryan Montgomery,
Ryan Shook,
Richie Salter and
Chris Horne at 12:45 p.m. prior to Saturday's game.
The Spartans are coming off their third straight mid-week cancellation after having Wednesday's game with Longwood called due to poor field conditions. In their last outing, the Spartans wrapped up second place in the MEAC Northern Division with a 4-0 shutout of Coppin State in Baltimore, Md. The Spartans host the 2013 MEAC Baseball Tournament starting next Wednesday.
ODU has won five of its last six games following a 2-games-to-1 series win over George Mason last weekend. The Monarchs are in their final year competing in the Colonial Athletic Association before moving to Conference USA next season.
The two teams split their meetings last season, with NSU winning 7-5 on March 28 at ODU. The Monarchs won an 11-8 decision on April 17 at Harbor Park.
Live stats and video will be available for both games. Friday's game will also air live on Star 1310 AM in the Hampton Roads area.
