NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State bowling team was one of 23 programs nationally that was recognized by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) for having a GPA of 3.2 or better during the 2012-13 academic school year.

The Spartans ranked 12th overall among NCAA bowling programs with a 3.38 team GPA. NSU was one of four MEAC schools to be honored along with UMES, Delaware State and North Carolina A&T.

Last week, four Spartan bowlers were honored by the NTCA for having GPAs of 3.4 or better, including Thea Aspiras, who earned third-team Academic All-NTCA honors. Jessica Overton, Ashley Buck and Courtney Brown were each named honorable mention.
