Old Dominion Tops NSU 6-1

NORFOLK, Va. – Sophomore Samuel Lemberger picked up NSU's only win as the Spartans fell to Old Dominion 6-1 on Sunday morning at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

Lemberger posted a 6-0, 6-5 (7-3) win over Keon Wiggemans in the No. 5 singles position.

The Spartans got things started in the doubles competition. Sophomore Dzmitry Zyhmantovich and senior Peter Ramstromer-Pello teamed up at the No. 2 spot, where they suffered a 6-1 loss to Carlos Lopez-Villa and Darragh Glavin. At the No. 3 position, junior Daniel Grauel and senior Kent Austin fell to Dante Terenzio and Zvonimir Podvinski, 6-4.

In singles play, Zyhmantovich competed at the No. 1 position, where he fell to Lopez-Villa, 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore Terenzio upended sophomore Robin Riethmueller at the No. 2 slot, 6-1, 6-5(3). Junior Igor Braga suffered a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Podvinski. In the No. 4 position, Jonas Kuwert defeated Ramstromer-Pello, 6-1, 6-2.Grauel closed the competition out for NSU with a 6-2, 1-6, 3-6 loss to Glavin.

The Spartans return to the court on Friday against Hampton. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. in Newport News, Va.
