NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State women's basketball team continues its road swing on Monday at Savannah State. Game time is at 4 p.m. at Tiger Arena in Savannah, Ga.

All-Time Series: NSU leads the series with Savannah State, 5-2. NSU last defeated Savannah State on Dec. 3, 2011.
Last Time Out: Junior Rae Corbo tallied 17 points to score in double figures for the sixth game straight to lift Norfolk State over South Carolina State 59-54 on Saturday afternoon at SHM Memorial Hall in Orangeburg, S.C.
The Spartans improved to 9-9 overall and 5-2 in conference play while S.C. State fell to 5-11 on the season and 3-3 in the MEAC.
Mykala Jones gave S.C. State its only lead of the game at the 1:54 mark after she drained a 3-pointer to make the score 52-50. Jones shot 50 percent (4-of-8) from downtown on the afternoon.
NSU answered with two back-to-back buckets and a pair of free throws. Freshman Koryn Lawrence tied the game at 52 on a layup with 1:40 on the clock. Corbo also scored inside to with one minute left. Senior Rachel Gordon ended the run with a pair of free throws to give NSU a 56-52 lead over the Lady Bulldogs with 27 seconds remaining in the game.
S.C. State finally scored a basket as Kourtney Williams drove in the paint to keep S.C. State within two, 56-54, at the 12 second mark. Williams led all scorers with 23 points. She also had four steals.
The Spartans shot free throws the rest of the way to give NSU its final score of 59. Overall NSU shot 68.2 percent (15-of-22) from the line, which included 10-of-14 shooting from Corbo, on the afternoon.
The Spartans shot 41.7 percent (20-of-48) from the field for the game. Corbo led the team in scoring with 17 points. Gordon posted her fifth straight double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Gordon's 11 rebounds put her at fourth place all-time in career rebounding at NSU with 945 rebounds. She needs 56 more boards to pass Sharon Wallace for first place. Lawrence added a career-high nine points while freshman Logan Powell and junior Jazamine Gray totaled seven points each for NSU. Powell also had 11 rebounds. Freshman Dominique Harper, junior Ebony Brown and freshman Kieera Basey rounded out the scoring effort for the Spartans with four points, three points and two points, respectively.
About Savannah State: Savannah State (11-9, 4-2) suffered a 70-46 loss to Hampton on Saturday at Tiger Arena in Savannah, Ga. Ezinne Kalu led the Lady Tigers with 15 points, five rebounds and four steals. Kalu was the only Savannah State player to score in double figures.
Savannah State was held to 28.3 percent (17-of-60) shooting from the field and shot only 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from the free throw line.
On the season, the Lady Tigers are averaging 64.6 points and 41.9 rebounds per game. Kalu leads the Lady Tigers in scoring, averaging 16.2 points per game. Jasmine Kirkland is second in scoring, averaging only 9.0 points per game. Jasmine Norman rounds out the top three in scoring with 8.2 points per game.
Last Year Against Savannah State: On Dec. 1, 2012, Ezinne Kalu led all scorers with 21 points to lead Savannah State over NSU, 62-55, in its first MEAC game of the season at Tiger Arena in Savannah, Ga. Recca Trice and Aivah Parham led the Spartans with 12 points each. Trice, who scored all 12 of her points in the second half, also had seven assists and two steals. Parham tallied eight rebounds.
Andrietta Thomas came out hot for the Tigers in the second half, nailing a jumper with 19:27 left in regulation to bring Savannah State within five as the Tigers trailed, 27-22.
Trice's jumper with 17:06 remaining in the game sparked a 7-4 run for the Spartans as they continued to lead Savannah State, 37-28.
The Tigers would not go down without a fight as they went on a 13-4 run which included a pair of layups by Ezinne Kalu to tie NSU 41-41 with 8:48 left. Savannah State took the lead for the rest of the game after a free throw by Kalu with 7:47 left in regulation.
Trice's layup with 4:25 left on the clock brought the Spartans within three as NSU trailed, 49-46. A jumper by Jasmine Norman capped a 9-5 run for the Tigers with 0:55 left in regulation to give the Tigers a 58-51 lead over NSU.
Aside from Kalu, the Tigers also had two other players finish with double figures including Andrietta Thomas who had 11 points and Jasmine Kirkland who added 10.
The Spartans shot 35.1 (20-of-57) percent from the floor. Gordon had seven points total and led NSU with 10 rebounds.
Scoring Leaders: Rae Corbo leads NSU in scoring, averaging 13.9 points per game followed by Rachel Gordon, who is averaging 11.9 points per game. Ebony Brown rounds out the top-three scoring leaders for NSU, averaging 9.6 points per game.
Double-Doubling: Rachel Gordon posted her fifth-straight double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds in NSU's win over S.C. State on Saturday. Gordon has tallied 10 double-doubles so far this season.
Moving Up the Charts: Rachel Gordon is in fourth place all-time in career rebounding at NSU with 945 rebounds. She needs 56 more boards to pass Sharon Wallace for first place, which means she needs to average 6.2 boards over the next nine regular season games.
Rae Corbo ranks eighth all-time in career free throws made at NSU with 251. Corbo needs to make 44 more to break into the top five.
Corbo is also in 11th place all-time in 3-point field goals made at NSU with 57. She needs only one more to move into the top 10. Teammate Ebony Brown is in 12th place in 3-point field goals made with 55. She needs three more to move into the top 10.
NCAA, MEAC Leaderboard: Rachel Gordon currently ranks No. 7 in the nation in rebounds per game and Rae Corbo is No. 58 in free throw percentage.
Gordon ranked 16th in career rebounding among active players through Jan. 23. She also ranks 11th in career rebounding average at 9.6.
As a team, NSU currently ranks in the top 5 in 15 different categories in the MEAC, while NSU players rank in the top 5 in five different categories, including Rachel Gordon, who leads the league in rebounds, averaging 12.6 rebounds per game.
