Box Score NORFOLK, Va. – Howard spoiled NSU's long-awaited home debut on Friday night, as the Bison swept the Spartan volleyball team 3-0 at Gill Gymnasium. Along the way, junior Darcy Moore became NSU's all-time leader in assists.
 
Howard hit an efficient .365 in winning 25-16, 25-19 and 25-16, a victory that improved the Bison's overall record to 10-9 and their MEAC mark to 3-1.
 
Moore finished with 22 assists on the night. Coming into the match, she needed only 19 more to pass Nicole Kessner's previous school record of 2,424 career assists.
 
NSU (0-16, 0-4 MEAC) was led by junior Angie Darcus with 13 kills.
 
The Bison led 8-5 in the first part of the match. Darcus had three kills, and then an error on HU cut the deficit to one, 11-10. Howard, though, pulled away thanks to runs of 6-1 and 5-0.
 
The Bison had three straight blocks to start the second set, helping build an early 5-0 lead. They built the advantage to 16-8 and then 20-10 before NSU mounted a comeback attempt. The Spartans won nine of the next 12 points, highlighted by three kills from Darcus and a block and kill by sophomore Dominique Parker.
 
A score of 23-19 was as close as the Spartans got.
 
The crowd got into the match more and more as the third set got going. NSU won the first two points but fell behind by a 5-3 margin. Senior Kylee Thiim had a kill and block to give the Spartans a 7-6 lead. Tied at 9-9, though, Howard went on a 12-4 run to open up an eight-point advantage and coast to the win.
 
Parker had five blocks and four kills on the night. As a team, NSU hit .087.
 
Khaila Donaldson had 12 kills and eight digs to lead Howard. Whitney Fields added 10 kills and five blocks.
 
NSU will be back on the road on Sunday at Delaware State at 1 p.m.
