About the Bobcats
Quinnipiac will open its 2014 season this weekend at the Spartan Classic. The Bobcats were picked to finish 11th in the preseason Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference poll. Quinnipiac finished 2013 with a record of 17-36 overall, including a 12-20 mark in Northeast Conference play. Buffalo returns all three of its weekend starting pitchers from last year, the core of a pitching staff which registered a 3.72 ERA. Two-way player Mike Burke (8-2, 2.66 ERA), Anthony Magovney (7-4, 4.26) and Mike McGee (5-4, 4.29) will bolster the starting staff, while Ben Hartz (6-1, 2.01) and Dan Ginader (0-0, 2.08) are top returning relievers for UB.

Righty Max Almonte will also be a key starter after returning to the team following a redshirt year in 2013.
Villanova was predicted to finish tied for sixth in the Big East this season with new conference member Butler. The Wildcats went 14-40 overall and 5-19 in the Big East last season.

Marty L. Miller Field in the last series matchup in 2012. NSU's last win was a 9-4 victory in the second game of the 2011 season.
