NORFOLK, Va. – The Spartans are looking to snap their two-game losing streak on Saturday when they travel to Baltimore, Md., to take-on Coppin State. Game time is at 2 p.m. at the Physical Education Complex.

All-Time Series: Coppin State leads the series with NSU, 20-6. The last time NSU defeated Coppin State was Jan. 31, 2005.
Moving Up the Charts: Rachel Gordon is in second place all-time in career rebounding at NSU with 991 rebounds. She needs 10 more boards to pass Sharon Wallace for first place. Gordon could potentially break the record at Coppin State on Saturday.
NSU on the Rise: For just the third time in 12 seasons, NSU has reached double-digit wins this year. Since the 2002-03 season, NSU has only had 10 or more wins in 2004-05 and 2011-12 (12 wins both years).
The Spartans have also posted six MEAC wins this year. It's tied for the most conference wins the program has had since 2005-06. NSU also had six MEAC wins in 2011-12.
Scoring Leaders: Rae Corbo leads NSU in scoring, averaging 13.4 points per game followed by Rachel Gordon, who is averaging 12.0 points per game. Ebony Brown rounds out the top-three scoring leaders for NSU, averaging 9.2 points per game.
Double-Doubling: Rachel Gordon posted her 13th double-double of the season on Saturday against Hampton. She finished the game with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Breaking 1,000 Points: Rae Corbo has 943 career points at NSU. She needs only 57 more to become a member of the "1,000 Point Club" at NSU.
NCAA, MEAC Leaderboard: Rachel Gordon currently ranks No. 7 in the nation in rebounds per game and Rae Corbo is No. 64 in free throw percentage.
Gordon ranked 16th in career rebounding among active players through Feb. 16. She also ranks 10th in career rebounding average at 9.7. Corbo ranked 36th in career free throw percentage among active players through Feb. 16.
As a team, NSU currently ranks in the top 5 in eight different categories in the MEAC, while NSU players rank in the top 5 in five different categories, including Rachel Gordon, who leads the league in rebounds, averaging 12.5 rebounds per game.
Last Time Out: Freshman Koryn Lawrence scored a season-high 16 points as Norfolk State fell to Hampton, 93-59, on Saturday afternoon at Joseph Echols Hall.
The Spartans kept the game close the first five minutes of the game as junior Ebony Brown knocked down a jumper with 14:36 to go before halftime to tie the game at 11. From there it was all Hampton as the Lady Pirates went on a 33-16 run to lead NSU 44-27 at the break.
NSU continued to struggle offensively in the second half. The first four points of the half for the Spartans came off of free throws from Rae Corbo and Ebony Brown. NSU finally made a field-goal at the 16:31 mark on another jumper from Ebony Brown to make the score 53-33.
The Lady Pirates answered on the other end as Kenia Cole drained a 3-pointer with 14:32 remaining to spark a 24-7 run. Hampton led by as many as 37 points after Malia Tate-DeFreitas closed out the run with another 3-pointer with 9:47 on the clock to make the score 77-40. For the game, Hampton shot 47.8 percent (11-of-23) from behind the arc.
From there the Spartans went on a 12-3 run. NSU continued to trail 80-52 at the 6:58 mark after a layup from freshman Logan Powell. Lauren Johnson scored the last points of the game for Hampton on a pair of free throws with 44 seconds left to give the Lady Pirates their final score.
For the game, Hampton shot 49.2 percent (32-of-65) from the field, while limiting the Spartans to 37.0 percent (20-of-54) shooting. The Lady Pirates also outscored NSU in the paint, 36-26. Both teams fared well at the free throw line. NSU shot 78.3 percent (18-of-23) and Hampton shot 75.0 percent (18-of-24) from the line.
Aside from Lawrence, Gordon was the only other NSU player to score in double figures. She finished the game with 13 points and 11 rebounds to post her 13th double-double of the season.
About Coppin State: Coppin State (12-13 9-4) is coming off of a 66-61 loss to Morgan State on Wednesday night at Hill Field House in Baltimore, Md. For the game, the Lady Eagles shot only 32.8 percent (22-of-67) from the field and was 2-of-11 from 3-point range. Coppin State also shot 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from the free throw line. Kyra Coleman and Ashle Craig led Coppin State with 16 points each. Coleman also had seven rebounds, while Craig picked up three assists and two steals. Larissa Carter also scored in double figures for the Lady Eagles, finishing the night with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
On the season, Coppin State is averaging 65.0 points and 41.0 rebounds per game. Coleman leads the team in scoring, averaging 16.3 points per game. Carter is second in scoring, averaging 13.7 points per game. Craig rounds out the top three scorers for the Lady Eagles, averaging 12.0 points per game.
Last Time Against Coppin State: In the first meeting this season, Coppin State posted a 71-52 win over Norfolk State to end the Spartans' three game win streak on Jan. 20 at Joseph Echols Hall.
Senior Rachel Gordon and junior Rae Corbo led NSU with 13 points each. Gordon also grabbed 10 boards to post her fourth straight double-double. She now has nine double-doubles this season.
The Spartans shot only 34.6 percent (18-of-52) from the field for the game and was 13-of-19 from the free throw line. Freshman Logan Powell posted 10 points and seven rebounds, while junior Ebony Brown ended the game with seven points. Junior Quineshia Leonard totaled six points and freshman Dominique Harper rounded out the scoring effort for NSU with three points.
For the game, the Lady Eagles shot 44.1 percent (26-of-59) from the field which included a 35.7 percent (5-of-14) mark from behind the arc. Ashle Craig led the Lady Eagles with 27 points on 9-of 13 shooting. She also shot 80 percent (4-of-5) from the free throw line. Kyra Coleman ended the game with 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.
