The Spartans picked up their first win of the year last weekend in the Spartan Clash, a 3-1 triumph over Yale, but NSU dropped its last two games of the tournament to fall to 1-6 on the season. Senior Morgan Boyd went 4-for-4 in a loss against Wagner, and she currently leads the team with a .500 average in 18 at bats. Only junior Alina Moriarty, at .273, is hitting better than .250 on the year.

Sophomore Whitney Williams has six of the team's 12 RBI on the year. As a team, the Spartans are hitting just .210. In the circle, senior Jamie Schulle has started four games, including the lone win over Yale in which she gave up just one unearned run in seven innings of work.

Delaware comes in at 2-8 following a pair of tournaments in Honolulu and Orlando. The Blue Hens split with Hampton in Hawaii, losing the first game to the Pirates 7-2 before winning the second, 5-2. Jessica Grisler leads the way with a .333 batting average, the only regular player above .250. Kelly Lupton has started three games in the circle and is 0-2 with a 3.86 ERA.

UMBC owns a 6-2 record on the year, winning all four of its games at the Phoenix Opening Tournament last weekend at Elon. The Retrievers downed NSU 5-3 in the first weekend of the season as well. Jaclyn Buckley leads the team with a .385 average and is one of five players hitting above .300 this year. Caitlin Chance has driven in a team-leading eight RBI, while Jessica Holte owns a 4-0 record with a 1.93 ERA.

Monmouth has yet to play this season.

All-Time Series
NSU has never faced UMBC, and owns all-time records of 2-13 against Delaware and 0-4 against Monmouth. This will mark the fourth year in a row both Delaware and Monmouth will travel down to Norfolk for a tournament at NSU.

Early Watch
Morgan Boyd has nine hits already this season, putting her at 148 for her career. She now needs just 31 more to tie Brianeisha Eure for the career hits record at NSU.

Jamie Schulle, with 10 strikeouts this year, is now just 70 away from tying the program record of 421 held by Angela Smith. Schulle already owns the career record for most appearances and is both two starts and nine innings away from tying those records as well.

Up Next
The Spartans will head to Winthrop from March 7-9 to take part in the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational. NSU will play a pair of games on Friday and Saturday and one on Sunday.
