NSU Looking to Extend Win Streak with Match at S.C. State on Sunday

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team will take on reigning MEAC champion South Carolina State on Sunday. The match was previously scheduled for Saturday, but South Carolina State had to reschedule to their presidential inauguration.

The Spartans (3-3, 1-0) swept both Christopher Newport and North Carolina Central last weekend. Sophomore Dzmitry Zyhmantovich, who was named MEAC Rookie of the Year last season, is on a four singles match winning streak. Junior Daniel Grauel earned MEAC Player of the Week honors on Wednesday after pairing up with teammate Samuel Lemberger to claim an 8-1 victory over CNU's Joey Manilla and Michael Dodd. He also posted a 6-0, 6-0 win against Dodd in the singles competition. In the match against the Eagles, Grauel posted an 8-3 doubles victory against Thomas Persico and Fabrice George. In singles play, he defeated Persico, 6-3, 6-2.

S.C. State (1-4) dropped a pair of matches last weekend. The Bulldogs suffered a 5-2 loss at Winthrop on Saturday. Stanislav Baco picked up the Bulldogs' lone singles win in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. S.C. State also fell to UNC Charlotte, 6-1, on Sunday. Martin Kobza posted the Bulldogs' only single victory.

The match begins at 10:30 at the Bulldog Courts.
