NORFOLK, Va. – The Spartans will compete in their final road game of the regular season on Saturday when they take on the Hampton Lady Pirates in part two of the Battle of the Bay. Tip-off is at 4 p.m. at HU Convocation Center in Hampton, Va.

All-Time Series: Hampton leads the series with NSU, 51-35.
Gordon Sets Career Rebounding Mark: Rachel Gordon moved into first place all-time for career rebounds at NSU after posting 17 boards against Howard on Monday. Coming into the game, she needed only three more rebounds to pass Sharon Wallace for first place. Gordon now has 1,015 boards for her career.
Double-Doubling: Rachel Gordon scored 12 points and tallied 17 rebounds on Monday at Howard to post her 14th double-double of the season.
Scoring Leaders: Rae Corbo leads NSU in scoring, averaging 13.1 points per game followed by Rachel Gordon, who is averaging 12.0 points per game. Ebony Brown rounds out the top-three scoring leaders for NSU, averaging 8.7 points per game.
Breaking 1,000 Points: Rae Corbo has 963 career points at NSU. She needs only 37 more to become a member of the "1,000 Point Club" at NSU. Rachel Gordon has 951 career points and needs only 49 more to break 1,000.
NCAA, MEAC Leaderboard: Rachel Gordon currently ranks No. 7 in the nation in rebounds per game and Rae Corbo is No. 51 in free throw percentage.
Gordon ranked 16th in career rebounding among active players through Feb. 27. She also ranks 13th in career rebounding average at 9.8. Corbo ranked 44th in career free throw percentage among active players through Feb. 27.
As a team, NSU currently ranks in the top 5 in eight different categories in the MEAC, while NSU players rank in the top 5 in four different categories, including Rachel Gordon, who leads the league in rebounds, averaging 12.4 rebounds per game. Rae Corbo also leads the league in free throw percentage at 84.6 percent on the season.
Last Time Out: Freshman Logan Powell had a season-high 25 points to lead Norfolk State to a 79-74 victory over Howard on Monday night at Burr Gymnasium. The win snapped NSU's three game losing streak. NSU improved to 7-6 in the conference and 11-13 overall, while the Lady Bison fell to 6-7 in league play and 10-16 on the season.
The Lady Bison came within four points, 67-63, after Shavonne Duckett drained a 3-pointer at the 2:25 mark, but NSU clinched the victory scoring 10 of its last 12 points at the free throw line to seal the win. For the game, NSU shot 87.1 percent (27-of-31) from the line.
Two other Spartans reached double figures, including junior Rae Corbo, who tallied 16 points. Rachel Gordon added 12 points and 17 rebounds. She tallied 12 of her 17 boards in the first half of the game. For the game, the Spartans shot 41.4 percent (24-of-58) from the floor, including 57.1 percent (4-of-7) shooting from behind the arc.
About Hampton: Hampton (23-4, 14-0) is coming off of a 90-62 win over Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday W.P. Hytche Athletic Center in Princess Anne, Md. For the game, the Lady Pirates shot 42.9 percent (27-of-63) from the field and was 9-of-26 from 3-point range. Hampton also shot 67.5 percent (27-of-40) from the free throw line. Malia Tate-DeFreitas led Hampton with 26 points and three assists. Alyssa Bennett and Kenia Cole also scored in double figures for the Lady Pirates. Bennett tallied 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Cole added 18 points and four assists.
On the season, Hampton is averaging 72.3 points and 46.1 rebounds per game. Tate-DeFreitas leads the team in scoring, averaging 19.1 points per game. Bennett is second in scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game. Nicole Hamilton rounds out the top three for the Lady Pirates, averaging 13.2 points per game.
Last Time Against Hampton: In the first meeting this season, freshman Koryn Lawrence scored a season-high 16 points as Norfolk State fell to Hampton, 93-59, on Feb. 15 at Joseph Echols Hall. Aside from Lawrence, Rachel Gordon was the only other NSU player to score in double figures. She finished the game with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Spartans kept the game close the first five minutes of the game as junior Ebony Brown knocked down a jumper with 14:36 to go before halftime to tie the game at 11. From there it was all Hampton as the Lady Pirates went on a 33-16 run to lead NSU 44-27 at the break.
NSU continued to struggle offensively in the second half. The first four points of the half for the Spartans came off of free throws from Rae Corbo and Ebony Brown. NSU finally made a field-goal at the 16:31 mark on another jumper from Ebony Brown to make the score 53-33.
For the game, Hampton shot 49.2 percent (32-of-65) from the field, while limiting the Spartans to 37.0 percent (20-of-54) shooting. Hampton also shot 47.8 percent (11-of-23) from behind the arc. The Lady Pirates also outscored NSU in the paint, 36-26. Both teams fared well at the free throw line. NSU shot 78.3 percent (18-of-23) and Hampton shot 75.0 percent (18-of-24) from the line.
Hampton's Malia Tate-DeFreitas led all scorers with 33 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Lady Pirates were Kenia Cole and Alyssa Bennett, who finished the game with 14 and 22 points, respectively. Bennett also had 11 rebounds.
