NORFOLK, Va. - After being on the road for the last three games, Norfolk State returns home to take on Howard on Monday night. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Joseph Echols Hall. The game has been designated Breast Cancer Awareness Night.

All-Time Series: Howard leads the series with NSU, 28-9. The last time the Spartans defeated the Lady Bison was on Feb. 4, 2008. NSU came away with a 94-88 win in overtime.
Last Time Out: Senior forward Rachel Gordon made a layup with one second left to give Norfolk State a 64-63 victory over Morgan State on Saturday afternoon at Hill Field House.
NSU improved to 6-3 in MEAC play and 10-10 overall, while Morgan State fell to 0-9 in the conference and 2-20 on the season.
Morgan State held a 63-60 lead over the Spartans with 1:08 left to play. Junior Ebony Brown knocked down a jumper with 49 seconds left to pull NSU within one. Morgan State's Tracey Carrington missed a layup on the other end and junior Quineshia Leonard grabbed the rebound to give the Spartans the ball with 11 seconds left to play. Junior Rae Corbo tried missed the jumper with six seconds on the clock, but Gordon got the offensive board and the put back to seal the win for NSU.
Gordon posted her 11th double-double of the season and led the Spartans with 19 points and 17 rebounds. She now has 967 career rebounds at NSU. Gordon needs 34 more boards to pass Sharon Wallace for first place.
For the game, NSU shot only 35.9 percent (23-of-64) from the field and shot 55.2 percent (16-of-29) from the free throw line. The Spartans outscored the Lady Bears, 30-18, in the paint and also outrebounded them 55-38. The last time NSU had at least 50 boards this season was at UMES on Jan. 15 when the Spartans totaled 51.
Aside from Gordon, Corbo and Brown finished the game in double-figures, scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively. Gray and Powell each contributed six points.
About Howard: Howard (9-13, 5-4) is coming off of a 76-64 loss at Hampton on Saturdayat the Convocation Center in Hampton, Va. For the game, Howard shot 40.4 percent (21-of-52) from the field and was 7-of-15 from 3-point range. The Lady Bison also shot 68.2 percent (15-of-22) from the free throw line.
Shavonne Ducket led Howard with 16 points and seven rebounds. Te'Shya Heslip and Victoria Gonzalez also scored in double figures, finishing the game with 15 and 12 points, respectively. Heslip also tallied four assists and four steals.
On the season, Howard is averaging 58.9 points and 38.8 rebounds per game. Heslip leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game. Gonzalez is second in scoring, averaging only 11.5 points per game.
Last Time Against Howard: Last season, despite leading at halftime the Spartans fell short to the Lady Bison, 56-45, on Jan. 14, 2013. NSU only shot shot 38.1 percent (16-of-42) pfrom the field, which included a 30.0 percent (3-of-10) mark from behind the arc. Kashay Barnes led NSU with 14 points and three steals. Rachel Gordon nearly had a double-double, but finished the game with eight points and 11 rebounds.
For the game, Howard shot 31.1 percent (14-of-45). Saadia Doyle led all scorers with 26 points and seven rebounds.
Scoring Leaders: Rae Corbo leads NSU in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game followed by Rachel Gordon, who is averaging 12.0 points per game. Ebony Brown rounds out the top-three scoring leaders for NSU, averaging 9.3 points per game.
Double-Doubling: Rachel Gordon posted her 11th double-double of the season on Saturday at Morgan State. Gordon finished the game with 19 points and 17 rebounds.
Moving Up the Charts: Rachel Gordon is in fourth place all-time in career rebounding at NSU with 967 rebounds. She needs 34 more boards to pass Sharon Wallace for first place, which means she needs to average 4.8 boards over the next seven regular season games.
Rae Corbo ranks eighth all-time in career free throws made at NSU with 261. Corbo needs to make 34 more to break into the top five.
Corbo is also in 11th place all-time in 3-point field goals made at NSU with 57. She needs only one more to move into the top 10. Teammate Ebony Brown is in 12th place in 3-point field goals made with 55. She needs three more to move into the top 10.
NCAA, MEAC Leaderboard: Rachel Gordon currently ranks No. 7 in the nation in rebounds per game and Rae Corbo is No. 56 in free throw percentage.
Gordon ranked 18th in career rebounding among active players through Feb. 6. She also ranks 12th in career rebounding average at 9.6.
As a team, NSU currently ranks in the top 5 in 12 different categories in the MEAC, while NSU players rank in the top 5 in five different categories, including Rachel Gordon, who leads the league in rebounds, averaging 12.5 rebounds per game.
