Meet Results

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.
– Nathnael Meseret placed seventh in the 800 meters and D'Sean Brown fared well in both of his field events to highlight the efforts of the NSU men's track and field team over the weekend at the outdoor season-opening Coastal Carolina Invitational.

Meseret, competing for the first time during track season in 2013-14, posted a time of 1 minute, 58.43 seconds to take seventh in the 800. That was the best finish for the Spartan men on the track during the weekend, but NSU did post three other top-10 finishes. Sophomore Steve Coles was ninth in the 400 meters (49.56 seconds) and redshirt freshman Michael Smith was 10th in the 110 meter hurdles (15.22).

The 4x400 relay team of Coles, Damond Burns, Markeith Smith and Kyle Green added a 10th-place finish. The quartet crossed the finish line in 3:25.17.

Brown was the team's biggest standout in the field events. He placed fourth in the high jump (6 feet, 4.75 inches) and was 11th in the long jump (21-6).

The Spartans are back in action this Saturday as they take part in the Virginia Cup in Charlottesville, Va.
