NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State right handed pitcher
Michael Parmentier recently competed in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) All-Star Game representing his summer team, the Martha's Vineyard Sharks.
Parmentier pitched one inning for the East all-star team in its 4-3 win over the West squad last Tuesday night.Â
For the summer, Parmentier has a 1.45 earned-run average, five saves and a 2-3 record as the Sharks' closer. He has struck out 26 batters in 24.2 innings, spanning 19 appearances.
Now in its fifth year, the FCBL features 10 New England-based teams competing in a wooden-bat collegiate summer league. Players from Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Boston College, UConn and Rutgers also competed in the FCBL All-Star Game.Â
Parmentier had a strong freshman campaign for the Spartans this past spring. Serving alternately as a mid-week starter and weekend reliever, Parmentier went 3-1 with a 3.49 ERA. He struck out 23 batters in 28.1 innings pitched.
Parmentier was the third Spartan pitcher to be selected for an all-star team in a summer collegiate league this year.
Matt Outman (Peninsula Pilots) played in the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game and
Alex Mauricio (Waynesboro Generals) pitched in the Valley League All-Star Game earlier this month.
