Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG hit better than .300 and had 47 kills in a three-set sweep of the Norfolk State volleyball team on Friday evening at Fleming Gymnasium.
As part of the Spartan-Aggie Invitational co-hosted by UNCG, the Spartans of NSU fell by scores of 25-14 in the first and third sets. The Spartans of UNCG also took the second set by a 25-19 score as part of the 3-0 sweep.
UNCG (7-2) hit .308 as a team, with the duo of Ashley Muench (16 kills, .464 attack percentage) and Jessica Brezwyn (11 kills, .320 hitting percentage) providing plenty of offense. The Spartans also held a 55-41 edge over NSU in digs.

Angie Darcus had a team-high seven kills for NSU (0-7), which finished with a .038 attack percentage.
Norfolk State stayed neck-and-neck with UNCG for the start of the first set, as a kill by senior
Darcy Moore tied it up at 5-5. The Spartans were still down by just one several times, the last at 10-9 on a service error by UNCG. A 6-0 run extended its lead to seven, and the other Spartans also won three serves in a row twice late in the set to pull away.

Dominique Parker capped a 5-2 start of the second set for NSU. The duo later gave the Spartans a 10-8 lead thanks to a block of an attack by Muench. NSU overcame a 5-1 UNCG run to tie the score at 13-13, but a 4-1 run by UNCG forced a Norfolk State timeout. The Spartans got as close as two on a kill by junior
Sydney Dailey, but a 6-1 spurt for UNCG put the set away.
UNCG won seven of the first 10 points of the third set, although NSU still remained within three points at 13-10 after a Spartan service error. But runs of 5-0 and 5-1 gave UNCG a comfortable lead for the rest of the match.

Alex Irizarry added 12 digs for NSU.
NSU will face Alabama State at 11 a.m. on Saturday at UNCG's Fleming Gymnasium, followed by a matchup at North Carolina A&T at 7 p.m.
