RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond won all nine matches to post a 7-0 victory over the Norfolk State women's tennis team on Saturday afternoon at the Westhampton Tennis Complex.

The Spiders took all six singles matches in straight sets and also won two of the three doubles matches by a comfortable margin. Their fourth win in the past five matches improved their record to 8-6 while dropping NSU to 4-9.

NSU's closest doubles match came at the second position, where seniors
Andrea Macchiavello and
Mafalda Lhorca fell by a 6-4 score to Gaby Rosales and Ana Ramirez.

The Spiders won the other two matches by the same 6-1 score. Brittany Boys and Katya Salas won at the No. 1 spot over junior
Ana Popovic and sophomore
Dajana Cvjetkovic, while the Richmond duo of Anna Abadias Morales and Emily Gitman downed junior
Liza Gordeeva and freshman
Marta Gomar at the third slot.

Cvjetkovic had the best singles match of any NSU player, facing Abadias Morales at the No. 1 position. Cvjetkovic gave it a ride before dropping a 6-3, 7-5 decision.

At the second spot, Rosales topped Gordeeva by a 6-3, 6-0 margin. Boys took down Gomar at No. 3 singles, 6-2 and 6-2, while Ramirez posted a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Macchiavello at the fourth spot.

In the last two matches, Richmond won by a 6-0, 6-0 margin at the fifth position where Kelsey Williams topped Popovic, while Salas earned a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Lhorca at the last spot in the lineup.

NSU will look to rebound on Wednesday when the Spartans travel across the water to play at Hampton at 3 p.m. in a conference matchup.
