WASHINGTON, D.C. – The duo of Khaila Donaldson and Jessica Young tallied a combined 26 kills in leading Howard to a 3-0 win over the Norfolk State volleyball team on Sunday afternoon at Burr Gymnasium.
In NSU's only matchup of the weekend, the Spartans fell to 0-5 in the MEAC and 3-16 overall after losing by scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-13 against the defending league champs. Howard hit .316 for the afternoon in improving to 5-1 in conference play and 8-13 overall.

Donaldson and Young each had 13 for the Bison, who led in digs (34-21) and blocks (4-0) for the match. The Spartans did tally six service aces.
NSU's most success came in the first set. It was back and forth early on, with the Bison going up 10-6 before the Spartans won four in a row to tie the score at 10-all. Howard jumped ahead again, although NSU did trail by just two at 17-15 after a kill by sophomore
Daiysa Burrell and a service ace from senior
Melvina Brown.
Howard won five of the next six points, and kills from freshman
Taylor Eichelberger and Burrell closed out the scoring for Norfolk State in the eventual six-point loss.
The Spartans did lead the second set 6-3, but a 13-0 run a little later helped the Bison easily pull away. Howard was never threatened in the third set.
Norfolk State returns home to face Hampton next Friday at 6 p.m. at Gill Gymnasium and Delaware State on Sunday.
