NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University freshman
Martha Bissah was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Women's Track and Field Runner of the Week, the conference announced.
Bissah had a strong showing for the Spartans last weekend at the Penn State National meet. She placed fifth in the invitational section of the 800 meters, lowering her MEAC-best time with a mark of 2 minutes, 9.42 seconds. Bissah also ran a leg on NSU's first-place 4x400 meter relay team, which posted a season-best time of 3 minutes, 49.28 seconds.
This is the second time in the last three weeks that Bissah has claimed the MEAC's runner of the week award. She also won the honor after her victory in the mile run at UNC in mid-January.
The Spartans compete this weekend in the Vince Brown Invitational at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va.
