WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Norfolk State men's track and field team compiled five first-place finishes, including four on the track, as the Spartans kicked off outdoor season at the Tribe Invitational hosted by the College of William & Mary last weekend.
Freshman
Jacob Milton picked up where he left off during indoor season, with a victory in the high jump. The MEAC's indoor high jump champ edged out teammate
Garth Warner for first place in the event last weekend at W&M, posting a winning jump of 6 feet, 9.75 inches. Warner cleared 6-8.25 to take second.
On the track,
Romero Hines took first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.05 seconds.
Michael-Thomas Brown claimed a narrow victory in the 400 meters, clocking a winning time of 50.03 seconds to beat runner-up Blaine Lacey of George Mason by .01.
Festus Bett led the long-distance runners with a win in the 10,000 meters in 32:51.30.
Capping the day on the track, the 4x400 meter relay team of Brown,
De'Von Booker,
Kyle Jones and
Rasheed Best won its race in 3:20.29.
NSU is back in action this weekend at the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond.
