NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State senior guard
Kyle Williams was named the MEAC Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon when the conference office announced its weekly men's basketball honors.
Williams led NSU to a win at Stony Brook on Saturday, tallying a season-high 21 points with four rebounds, one assist and one block. He shot 5-of-9 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, and hit 7-of-8 from the free throw line in NSU's only action of the week.
He shared the award with Morgan State's Tiwian Kendley. It also marked NSU's second weekly award this year after
Preston Bungei was named Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 14.
On the year, Williams is averaging 8.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He is currently shooting 39 percent from 3-point range and 41 percent overall.
NSU (2-12) will host Coppin State on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Joseph Echols Hall in the first MEAC game of the season.
