NORFOLK, Va. – Former Norfolk State University football All-American Lynden Trail has signed a free-agent contract with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League, the club announced on Friday.
The Tiger-Cats, based in Hamilton, Ontario, open training camp on Sunday before playing their first preseason game on June 1. They are coached by former NFL and college head coach June Jones.
Trail has spent time with three NFL teams since finishing his career at NSU in 2014. Most recently, he played in two games with the Washington Redskins during the 2016 season before being released by the team prior to the 2017 regular season. Trail spent parts of three years with the Redskins (2015-17).
Trail began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans in 2015, and also spent time on the practice squads of both the Redskins (2015-17) and Los Angeles Rams (2016).
Trail was a three-time Division I FCS All-American at NSU from 2012-14. In his three seasons with the Spartans, Trail tallied 255 tackles, 41 tackles for loss, 19.5 sacks, 18 pass breakups and eight forced fumbles. He was a three-time All-MEAC selection.
