Yoro Sidibe was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon, as the newcomer led the Norfolk State men's basketball team to a pair of wins last week to start the season.
Sidibe averaged 11.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in those two victories, shooting a combined 9-of-18 from the field as well as 3-of-4 from the free throw line. He also had one block while averaging just 17.5 minutes per game.
Most of his damage came last Tuesday in a 100-59 win over Greensboro College at Joseph Echols Hall. He shot 7-of-12 in his collegiate debut for 17 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Nine of his rebounds came on the offensive side of the ball.
The Dakar, Senegal native also finished with five points, seven rebounds and one block last Friday during the team's 93-53 win over Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Sidibe started both games.
NSU will play at Ole Miss tonight then return home to host The Apprentice School on Thursday at 8 p.m.
