Tracy Saunders to be Inducted into Virginia Sports Hall of Fame

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Former Norfolk State University women's basketball star Tracy Saunders is one of seven individuals who have been selected for induction into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame class of 2020, the organization announced Monday.

Saunders and the other honorees will be recognized at an induction ceremony on Saturday, April 25 at Zeiders American Dream Theater in Virginia Beach. Event and ticket information is available at www.vasportshof.com.

Saunders starred for the Spartans from 1987-91. A three-time All-CIAA selection, Saunders remains the third all-time leading scorer in school history, with 2,084 points, and is fourth in rebounds, with 978. NSU went 95-25 in her four years, including a berth in the 1991 NCAA Division II Final Four. NSU won a school-record 33 games that season and Saunders was named the national Player of the Year. She also won the 1991 Honda Award as the top female athlete in all of Division II.

Saunders will be joined in this year's induction class by broadcasters Dennis Carter and Bruce Rader, former MLB player, coach and executive Mike Cubbage, track and field Olympian Lawrence Johnson, former NFL receiver Al Toon and former MLB all-star David Wright.
